The official nominations for the 90th Academy Awards were released this past week and it turns out I wasn't too far off in my predictions. Now comes the fun part - predicting the winners.
In my last post I tried to predict what movies would be nominated for an Oscar in the major categories. I was 100% correct about the Director, Leading Actress, Animated Feature and Adapted Screenplay nominees. What really threw me off was how Jordan Peele's "Get Out" was nominated in a lot more categories than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, I though it was one of the best movies of the year but I simply wasn't sure if the Academy was going to recognize it as such. Good for you "Get Out," you deserve it.
Now it comes time to think about who will actually bring home the little gold man come Mach 4th. This is always tough for me because it's hard to put my own opinions aside and be objective. Personally my favorite Oscar Movies of the year are "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," "The Shape of Water," and "Get Out." So I'm hoping they end up taking a bunch of awards home. However, I'll do my best to be objective. I also haven't seen EVERY single film nominated but I have seen most of them. Below you'll find the official list of nominees in the same categories I listed last time. Bolded in Red are the films/actors I think will bring home the gold.
